Prescott Elementary All Call

February 22, 2018

The PTO will be selling Smencils tomorrow, Friday, from 7:15-8:00 am. These were very popular and sold out quickly last time they were offered.

We have some exciting events right around the corner! All next week will be our Book Fair. All students will get to see the fair and shop during their library class time. We will also try to have open shopping for students throughout the week depending on the number of volunteers we have to help Ms. Laura.

Our Book Fair coincides with Read Across America Week which we will celebrate with dress up days. We will collect a $1 donation for each day you dress up.

Mixed Up Monday-Wear mixed up clothing

Top Hat Tuesday-Wear a favorite hat

Wacky Wednesday-Wear wacky socks

Relax and Read Thursday-will be Pajama Day at school

Fun Friday-Dress as your favorite book character or something Seussical.

And, last but not least, our annual Legos and Literacy night will be next Thursday from 5-7. This free event is open to all our Prescott Elementary families. Come for the whole two hours, or drop in for a few minutes to check out one of our great, fun, free, after school events.

That’s if for now. Everyone have a great night!

School pictures are tomorrow!

This is just a friendly reminder that if you choose to send out invitations to school, please make sure to invite the whole class or everyone in the class of your child's gender. This will help everyone feel included and not hurt anyone's feelings. If this is not part of the party plan, please distribute invitations outside the school environment.

Thank you for all the feedback for the STEM and Gym event. Due to the of volunteers and conflicting sports schedules, we have decided to postpone the event until the fall. Be on the lookout next year for more information.

Lastly, don't forget about the Smencils sale starting this Friday, and will continue on the 2nd and 4th Friday each month. Smencils are gourmet scented pencils that the PTO will be selling before school for $1. They ask that your child bring exact change. The scents include root beer, bubble gum, strawberry, cherry, blue raspberry and many more. Please make it to school in plenty of time to support your PSES PTO.

All dates are on the calendar found on the Prescott South Elementary app!

June 5 Report Card Update

PCSS is prepared to send Report Cards home through School Messenger. Parents may continue to contact schools to update email addresses. If you have not been able to check your email address in PowerSchool, you may check through your child’s contact information. When PCSS receives the scores from the TN Department of Education, we will immediately begin the process of finalizing report cards for release. The approximate timeline for release of HS report cards is on or before June 9th. Our intent is to release report cards for Grades 38 on or before June 20.

As a reminder, report cards will be released via School Messenger to parents with email addresses in PowerSchool. If an email address is not available in PowerSchool, parents may go by the school to pick up the child’s report card, or the school will mail if you dropped off a selfaddressed envelope.

We apologize for any inconvenience the delayed release of the Report Cards may have caused. PCSS is committed to a timely release upon receipt of all necessary information to ensure report cards will be correct. Any questions may be directed to the Office of Teaching and Learning, Denette Kolbe at 9315254710, or

Previous year's yearbooks are for sale in the office $3.

***Please pick up all medication in the nurse's office between 8-10 Tuesday, May 23, 2017 or it will be safely discarded according to School Board Policy. ***

PCSS will be sending 2017 Report Cards electronically this year via School Messenger.

To ensure that we have all contact information correct in the system, there will be a delay in the release of report cards.  This is a secure process.

Please take the following steps to help us.  Check your email address in your student’s contact information in PowerSchool.  If you don’t currently have an email address on file, contact your child’s school with that address. Report cards will be sent as soon as all information is verified.

Our goal is to have all report cards released by the end of May.. If you do not have current access to email, you may send a self-addressed envelope to the school or go by the school to pick up a printed copy of the report card once they are released.

As we close the 2016-2017 school year, PCSS would like to thank all parents and guardians for your support throughout the school year.  The success of our students hinges on our partnership with our families, students, and the community as a whole.

Have a great night.

Dear Prescott Families,

We are so excited to see everyone Monday.  I wanted to call and let you know all the exciting things going on the first two weeks of school. That’s right, the first two weeks!

Our Book Fair will be open starting July 27-August 2 during the school day and Friday from 5-7 during the Back to School Carnival.  Please contact Mrs. Laura Shaver if you are able to volunteer with the book fair. She needs as much help as you can give!  (Book Fair Link)

Back to School Carnival, what? That’s right! We are having a back to school carnival with free games, balloon characters, face painting, and much, much more! The carnival will be in the PreK / Daycare loop Friday night from 5-7. If it rains, we will move the event to the gym. There will be food available for purchase.

In response to parent requests, we are going to have one fundraiser this year.  We are asking all families to ask at least 10 people for $10 by August 5.  We are calling this “10 from 10”. 100% of the money raised will go directly back to the school.  If it is successful, we will not have a tumbler sale or Doggie Dash. All checks should be made out to the Prescott PTO. Our Carnival is the party to celebrate the fundraiser.   The only prizes purchased will be lunch for the top boy and girl fundraiser who will have lunch with the Principal, and the top fundraising class will have a snow cone party. We hope this is a huge success!

Smart Cards will be for Sale- many families look forward to these, and they sell themselves.

One last thing, if you haven’t, please go to the school web site and register your Kroger card with our school.  (Register Here)
